EXTRACTIVE HYDROMETALLURGY

Before you can get the most out of your mining operation, you need to understand exactly what goes into it. And to truly understand the ores your business is built on takes reliable, dedicated and thorough hydrometallurgical testing.

Gold Cedi's partners and scientists have extensive experience in hydrometallurgical processes. Our capabilities and offerings cover everything from process testing and flowsheet development to plant design and proprietary equipment supply for the hydrometallurgical processing.

Gold Cedi, through its in-house expertise or via strategic partnerships, offers the full range of hydrometallurgical testing and mineral processing services.

The core hydrometallurgical technologies we have mastered include electrochemical inorganic chemical based lixiviants, atmospheric leaching, solvent extraction, precipitation, and electrowinning.

ELECTROWINNING

Electrowinning is a proven and conventional technology used to extract metals from aqueous solution.

Electrowinning is the electrodeposition of dissolved metal ions from leach solutions. An electrowinning cell comprises of a bath containing the leach solution in which inert anodes and cathodes are immersed. An electrical current is then passed from the inert anode (oxidation) through the leach solution causing the dissolved metal ions to be deposited onto the cathode (reduction).

Gold Cedi uses activated carbon for the extraction of the precious metals.

ASSAYS & ANALYSIS

Gold Cedi's team and strategic partners perform quality, multi-element analyses targeting a wide variety of elements in many types of sample matrices. We are firmly committed to advanced technology; this commitment ensures we deliver on our promise to provide benchmark-setting quality service.

Precious and strategic metals (gold, silver, platinum group elements, REE's, and battery specific elements) can be analyzed and assayed by many techniques including; lead collection fire assay gold analysis, screen fire assay or leach digest analysis by cyanide, halide, or aqua regia, partial digest geochemistry, multi-element MS ICP, Atomic Absorption.

CONTRACT MINING

Consistent with Gold Cedi's formula of focusing on value, we identify the most practical and profitable direction without wasting energy and money on infeasible, or technically impractical development scenarios.

A combination of in-house expertise and a dynamic suite of specialized engineering firms, allows us to quickly identify and evaluate opportunities and if appropriate, apply practical, economic solutions. Our team and partners are seasoned professionals that have successfully designed, constructed and operated several small and large scale operations.

The model allows the project economics to drive the technical engineering studies – our strategic engineering partners have a track record of advancing successful projects that were previously deemed uneconomic or infeasible.

Financial models are developed in the early stages and used regularly as a communication and decision making tool. Sensitivity analyses allow for a sound understanding of the risks and opportunities in the early stages of the study and for trade-off studies.

E-WASTE PROCESSING

Gold Cedi has partnered with Canadian clean tech start-up LIXIUM to introduce technology to Ghana that will retrieve and recycle gold and other precious metals from electronic waste.

LIXIUM’s eco-friendly stripping reagent is said to recover over 99 per cent of gold from electronic waste, which is contained within the circuit boards of discarded laptops and mobile phones. The potential of this technology is huge, as it reduces the impact of electronic waste, preserves precious commodities, and forges new skills which help drive a circular economy.

Every year, 50 million tonnes of electronic waste is produced globally. This figure is set to reach 74 million tonnes by 2030. Less than a fifth of all electronic waste produced is recycled, resulting in a loss of gold, silver, copper, palladium, and other highly valued metals.

Gold Cedi is the first eco-friendly e-waste mineral processor in Ghana.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Gold Cedi is very active with community relations in the respective villages, and towns that we operate. Ensuring that the local residents are employed and trained is pivotal to community development and sustainability.  Gold Cedi’s mission is to formalize the small to medium scale mining sector in Ghana and West Africa. At the square root of this mission is community development and community engagement.
